Today marks my 8th year BASE jumping. On this wonderful 8 year anniversary I have begun reminiscing on everything I have done, everywhere I have been and everyone I have met. I think back to 2005, before I had even made my first jump. What I had then is a far cry from what I have created for myself today, doing what I love. I believe we are all given the tools we need to get where we want to go, but it’s completely up to us to decide how to best use the tools, to shape what we want our lives to look like. I started crafting my life in BASE years before I had the tools to begin actively jumping. As soon as the tools to get started were handed to me I knew exactly what I wanted to do and exactly where I wanted to go.
Over the years I have met some of my best friends and worst acquaintances. I have made hundreds of jumps all over the world and made countless memories. Most of which I have had the wonderful opportunity of sharing with all of you. My personal growth through this time has been huge and I have learned to live with an open heart. Opening myself to new situations, experiences and people. Because in this sport you never know who will be around to make another jump tomorrow. I only have right now with the people whom I care deeply about. I have lost tons of acquaintances, many friends and several best friends to this sport we love. Each person has made a lasting impression on me and the way I lead my life. Always staying open, trying new things, always smiling, never giving up, living with no fear, staying goofy and always charging forward in life. Reaching higher and higher. I have learned to reach so high that outsiders call me crazy and tell me I will fail. When I get called crazy I know I am on the right path.
BASE has been such a wonderful contribution to my life and my personality. It has taught me to participate in the crazy, never fear, not to sweat the small stuff, love deeply and express fully! All amazing gifts which I use every day. BASE has provided me the tools to start my path towards the other life goals I have and for that I am eternally grateful! Thank you to everyone who has believed in me and supported me in all of my seemingly crazy pursuits (they really aren’t that crazy).
If I had never had this burning desire to begin BASE I never would have gotten to where I am today. Recognize the tools you have been given and start using them. You never know where that path will lead you or how it will impact your life. You may be in for the ride of a life time!!
