Recently I was confronted with a situation that was very intimidating. The photo should do most of the explaining! Being a mini person standing at 5’4″ and 108Lbs gazing straight up to attempt to make eye contact with my student was a challenge !
But I LOV E a good challenge! My student was 6’6″ and 245 lbs. This situation made me question my abilities right away, not because I was nervous at first glance but because everyone who saw me standing next to him had something negative to say about how challenging it was going to be and how I should not take him. It is amazing how a few negative comments can change an attitude towards something that is challenging but they make it seem impossible. After a few moments I realized that I was allowing myself to be limited by the opinions of the people surrounding me, by their limiting beliefs! I decided to shake it off and take the student with out further questions. I was confident in my own abilities and I love to prove people wrong 😛 I took the guy who was 14 inches tall than me and 137lbs heavier than I am on a Level 1 AFF jump. The confidence I had in myself and my shield towards others doubts led to an amazing skydive that was indeed challenging but not impossible by any means. A good lesson and one that I needed to be reminded of and a quote that I heard somewhere. The people who think something is impossible need to get out of the way of the person who is doing it!!! 🙂 Don’t let others limiting beliefs or opinions prevent you from attaining or accomplishing something that you know you can! 🙂
