If there is one thing that I have learned in all my years as a professional athlete it’s that health and performance are directly related. I’m sure most of you know that, but I am not just talking about physically training to be healthy. I mean full body health: mental, emotional and physical, all combined together.

The second thing I have learned is that and simplicity really helps alleviate many of the stresses associated with getting everything done that needs to be completed every day.

Throughout the years, I have developed a routine that truly hits all the notes when it comes to supporting my nutritional needs; all while doing so as simply as possible. Smoothies are my go to when I need to get a nutrient-dense meal that’s quick and easy either before or after a training session or when I’m just super busy. One of the hardest things about smoothie making is balancing all the ingredients to ensure the best possible combination for what I need in the moment. It is super easy to overdo it on specific ingredients (ahhhemm… Peanut butter) and to end up with a smoothie that is too high in calories and that does more harm than good.
