I woke up one morning and realized that my job was holding me back… in more ways then one. As much as I’m sure we all enjoy job security when having a typical 9-5 or another variation of such job, I believe that each time we show up to work, each time we think about work and most certainly every time in-between, unless we LOVE our job, a little piece of us diminishes.
I enjoyed my job, I worked as a full time nanny. The kids were great… most of the time. The pay was decent, the hours sucked because lets face it no one really wants to wake up at 5am to get ready to go to work and if you do there is something wrong with you. Shortly after the novelty of having a “normal job” wore off I began to have this feeling, a very unsettling feeling, of running in circles, doing the same thing over and over again. Previous to this job I had worked in skydiving full time as a videographer, Instructor as well as the proud owner of a Drop Zone so my pace as a nanny was much slower. I worked with one family for exactly a year before the constant driving force inside me that told me “I cant work 40 hrs a week, I can’t just stay inside all day, I have to move, travel, LIVE and have fun” took over and I decided to take the leap, to quit my job to peruse my top 2 passions BASE jumping and health/wellness. I found a company that suited my needs with regards to health and wellness and I started my journey. Coaching people to achieve better health and wellbeing, impacting lives, gaining better personal health all while having the freedom to travel at the drop of a hat, BASE jump when ever I feel like it and not worry about the bank account. This is what I call truly living.
I never realized how much a 40-50 hr a week job negatively impacted my life, my happiness and of course my travels until… I quit. I was once called a “free bird” as well as a “power house in a pint sized package”. I have finally decided to harness both of those descriptions of me and move forward in my life doing what I love and making money all at the same time!!
